Brilliant Labs Student Shines at National Innovation Challenge

Maxim Michaud, a talented and dedicated student who has been part of the Brilliant Labs community since middle school, continues to inspire with his groundbreaking innovation. Maxim’s drone project, which he proudly showcased at the 2024 Brilliant Labs Innovation Fair, has earned him national recognition as a finalist in the prestigious Rideau Hall Foundation’s Ingenious+ Youth Innovation Challenge.

Maxim’s project is a life-saving tool that leverages artificial intelligence and a thermal camera to enhance search-and-rescue operations. Designed to quickly locate missing persons, the drone provides potential leads for search teams, enabling faster and more effective responses in emergency situations. This innovative use of technology demonstrates Maxim’s creative problem-solving skills and commitment to making a positive impact on society.

His hard work and ingenuity will be celebrated during Canadian Innovation Week (May 13–17), where he will join 15 other young innovators from across Canada as they are recognized for their exceptional problem-solving projects. The national awards ceremony will take place on May 15 in Ottawa, where the Rideau Hall Foundation will also provide mentorship, learning, and financial support to winners and finalists to help bring their ideas to life.
