Join the Wave: The Brilliant Blue Challenge Calls for Young Innovators and Mentors!
Are you ready for an adventure that combines creativity, technology, and a passion for our planet’s blue spaces? The Brilliant Blue Challenge is looking for youth aged 12–18 to register teams to innovate for the blue economy. This international event is being held virtually, accommodating participants from around the globe, on October 24th and 25th, 2024.
Why Participate? The oceans cover more than 70% of the Earth’s surface and are crucial to life on our planet. Despite their importance, they are among the least explored and most threatened ecosystems due to pollution, overfishing, and climate change. The Brilliant Blue Challenge aims to inspire the next generation of marine scientists, conservationists, and entrepreneurs by engaging them in real-world challenges that demand innovative solutions.
The inaugural Brilliant Blue Challenge saw participation from 22 teams across 14 countries, showcasing the global commitment to our marine environments. Teams innovated quickly and created prototypes that were as diverse as they were profound, addressing key issues from sustainable fishing to plastic pollution, all focused on the need to grow the blue economy.
This year, the Brilliant Blue Challenge is bigger and better and is accessible worldwide via a virtual format.
A Call for Mentors: In addition to team participants, we are actively seeking mentors who can guide, inspire, and collaborate with these young innovators. If you have expertise in marine biology, environmental science, technology, or entrepreneurship, your knowledge could light the way for a team as they navigate through the complexities of the competition. Mentors play a pivotal role in connecting theories with practical applications, helping to transform ideas into potential career paths within the blue economy. Learn about last year’s mentors!
