With over 18 years of experience as a senior resource and community development professional, John Wong has spent seven of those years with Brilliant Labs.
John is passionate about supporting youth education and empowerment through the power of community and a culture of philanthropy. By combining nonprofit management best practices with millennial ingenuity, he helps to make a difference through IDEA — inclusion, diversity, equity and access, and by applying innovation, collective impact and collaborative partnerships in his work.
Along with his Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) credential, John has many years of entrepreneurial experience in consumer product development, leadership management, and global marketing and sales. As a development professional, he has successfully developed numerous community-based initiatives; and raised funds through annual and capital campaigns, major gifts, special events and sponsorships to support transformative projects and programs. In 2017, he was one of 150 Canadians to be profiled in The Philanthropist to mark Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation.
John is a strong believer that regardless of our backgrounds, we share a common desire to build a better future for all. And, that our willingness to help others also has the enormous potential to help transform ourselves and our communities.
